Tutorial: Smokey Iridescent

Posted: March 28, 2011 in Tutorials, Wearable

I’ve been playing around with the new Wet ‘n Wild 8 palettes (really good swatches from VintageorTacky here!)  I am absolutely in love with the green-brown duo chrome eyeshadow from the Comfort Zone palette.  It’s kind of got the same idea as MAC Club from my understanding (although it’s probably a lot more red based)  I’m using this one in the tutorial today!

Let me tell you.  I think this eyeshadow combination is so amazing.  I’ve actually repeated it 3 times, which is pretty good considering I hardly ever repeat an eye look.  I even used it on my mom!  I realize that I haven’t done a more wearable look OR picture tutorial in awhile so here you go:

Started with a softly blended warm brown matte, all over (I do this step so that I have an easier time blending the rest of my darker shadows into a nice fade at the end)

Then I just deepened the outer with a muted plummy tone.  *Be sure to keep it really soft!*

On the inner I added that awesome brown-with-green-flash.  I’m used a denser shader brush here, its important to pack the color on a bit harder here.

Added the flashier bright purple and blended it into the shimmery brown.  UGH, SO PRETTY.

Finishing touches: BLEND BLEND BLEND.  Retouched my main shimmery colors (the purple and green-brown).  Deepened the outer with a dark brown and added liner and mascara.

Eek! So pretty! I think I want to roll in that duochrome! Can I volunteer to be the next person you paint on? :D

  2. I love this color combo! Especially Lawsuit *drools* that colors (along with all its dupes) is gorgeous~ I really like how you did your lower lashliner liner here, it pulls the look together nicely.

Actually I don’t like lawsuit as much as this one, it’s a little less versatile since it’s so dark… I don’t think it would work as well with this color combo anywho :] The one from comfort zone is MUCH more red and I think the green is more noticeable too.

I loooove Rock & Republic shadows. they’re lovely. lawsuit is a gorgeous color, Too Faced’s Label Whore is another dupe of it, I believe. but Lawsuit is a better version of it, imo.

    also, yes to video!

I am so glad I found your site! My daughter is 15 and adopted from China…I had no clue how to do her makeup to make her beautiful eyes stand out. I have sent her a link to your blog!

I noticed in another posting that you talked about having skin issues…Ivey had the same problem until I found goat’s milk soap & lotions. http://www.faithmountainfarm.com ALL her skin problems cleared up and her face is no longer dried & blistered. She has let her friends use the soap & their pimples have cleared up as well!
