What will always intrigue me about makeup is its ability to change a stranger’s perception of you at first glance. In a society that revolves largely around appearances, presentation can open doors (and close them as well!). Makeup gives the power to reveal clues about yourself before you even open your mouth. Four years ago I made that connection and ever since I’ve made efforts to understand it to my best ability.
Around Valentine’s Day in 2010, I started posting simple tutorials sharing techniques I had learned through experimentation in makeup. As time went by, I became familiar with the cosmetic world and branched out into more bold and theatrical looks. As this website began to pick up steam, I grappled with the negatives of the commercial beauty world and whether or not continuing to blog lined up with my priorities.
I am currently located on the East Coast studying art in Providence, RI. I hardly have any time to shower and sleep, so I’ve stopped working in makeup, but I may pick it back up later in my studies when I’m ready. For now I feel that I don’t have the respect for the medium equal to others who aspire to make careers in the field. I guess we will all have to stay tuned!
Feel free to contact me if you have any questions or just want to chat more about anything I’ve posted.
