Introduction
What will always intrigue me about makeup is its ability to change a stranger’s perception of you at first glance. In a society that revolves largely around appearances, presentation can open doors (and close them as well!). It gives you the power to reveal clues about yourself before you even open your mouth. Four years ago I made that connection and ever since I’ve tried to understand makeup to my best ability!
Around Valentine’s Day in 2010, I started posting simple tutorials sharing different techniques I had learned through experimentation. As time went by, I became familiar with the cosmetic world and the blog sphere, along with my own aesthetic tastes. I branched out into more bold and theatrical makeup, all the while holding my posts to a higher and higher standard. It built up to a point where I couldn’t take it anymore and almost shut this website down entirely. I grappled with the negatives of the commercial beauty world around me and whether or not continuing to blog lined up with my priorities; I needed to start concentrating on both my grades and the idea of pursuing fine art in college. Tiger Lily Makeup was a monster that turned me into a monster too. T.T …I needed to escape.
Fast forward to senior year! I’m continuing this website but my approach has drastically changed. To state it bluntly, I’m trying to keep it real and only post things I myself would find interesting. Additionally, entries have taken a more informative turn. Expect me to be missing in action quite frequently until college app deadlines, which end in February (I’m applying to art colleges in addition to regular universities). Please continue to send me love despite the fact that I’m a flaky teenager and my humor doesn’t make any sense (so I am told). I really appreciate all of your comments!

I was on your blog last night with my little cousins next to me, and they were absolutely enamored by your Bleeding Heart EOTD! The older one, aged 5, wants to be a face painter when she grows up, so it was pretty cool for her to see that you can draw more than animals on the face.
Keep up the great work; it’s nice to see tutorials and looks which are both bold, and work well on Asian eyes.

I just want to say that when I came across your blog (through a Lime Crime FB post) I was so impressed! I thought you were this professional avant garde makeup artist what with all your amazing looks on your blog and all. So to find out that you’re 17, and still in high school…well I was even more impressed! I’m 34 years old and have been a beauty/makeup junkie for years and I can honestly say I haven’t come across someone as fresh with ideas as you. I subbed to your blog and hope you have a Youtube channel soon because you’re extremely talented! Thanks for giving me inspiration and flooding my brian with ideas all because of your wonderful looks. Keep them coming!
